Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. All appointments must be booked through the Fresha app or website. This allows you to choose your preferred treatment and appointment time.
How do I pay?
All bookings require a 50% non-refundable deposit when booking through Fresha.
The remaining 50% is taken after your treatment has been completed.
If you fail to attend your appointment or cancel with less than 72 hours’ notice, the remaining balance will also be charged.
What should I wear?
This depends on the treatment you’re having.
For Swedish Massage, you’ll be professionally draped with towels at all times and only the area being treated will be uncovered.
For Lymphatic Drainage Massage, the massage works close to private areas to effectively stimulate the lymphatic system.
-
Women are recommended to wear bikini bottoms.
-
Men are recommended to wear briefs or speedos.
If you don’t have suitable underwear, disposable paper massage pants can be provided.
Please note that massage oil is used during treatments and may transfer onto clothing or underwear, particularly around the buttocks. We recommend wearing items you don’t mind getting a little oily.
What if I get an erection during my massage?
This is a completely natural physiological response and can occasionally happen during a massage.
There is no need to feel embarrassed. As long as it isn’t accompanied by inappropriate behaviour or comments, it will simply be ignored and the treatment will continue professionally.
Is this a sexual service?
Absolutely not.
Ikoi Massage is a professional massage therapy business.
Any inappropriate comments, sexual requests, indecent exposure, or attempts to touch Kumi will result in the treatment ending immediately.
You will be required to leave, your details may be retained, and serious incidents may be reported to the police.
What happens if I feel embarrassed or uncomfortable?
Massage can sometimes feel unfamiliar, especially for first-time clients.
If you need a few moments to compose yourself, simply let Kumi know.
She can either:
-
Continue the treatment once you’re comfortable.
-
Leave the room for a few minutes to give you privacy before returning.
Your comfort and dignity always come first.
Can I talk during the massage?
Of course!
Some clients enjoy chatting, while others prefer complete silence and relaxation.
The session is your time, so you’re welcome to do whichever makes you feel most comfortable.
Can I request more or less pressure?
Absolutely.
Everyone is different, so please let Kumi know if you’d like lighter or firmer pressure at any point during your treatment.
Do you offer mobile massage?
Yes.
Mobile appointments are available for treatments of 60 minutes or longer.
A travel charge of £15 applies for locations within approximately 15 miles of Loftus. Please contact us if you’re further away, as additional travel charges may apply.
Do I need to complete a consultation?
Yes.
Every new client completes a consultation form before their first treatment.
This helps identify any medical conditions, injuries, allergies or medications that may affect your treatment and ensures your massage is both safe and tailored to your needs.
Will my information be kept private?
Yes.
All consultation forms and personal information are treated as strictly confidential and stored securely in accordance with UK data protection legislation.
Can I bring someone with me?
You’re welcome to bring someone if it makes you feel more comfortable, how ever they can only look around the building to make you feel safe, once treatment starts they have to vacate the building as we have no where for them to rest.
What if I’m running late?
If you’re running late, please let us know as soon as possible.
Your treatment time may need to be reduced so as not to affect later appointments. Arriving very late may require your appointment to be cancelled and the normal cancellation policy will apply.
Do I need to shower before my appointment?
While not essential, arriving clean is appreciated and helps make your treatment as comfortable as possible for both you and your therapist.
